Choose the right material for your print
Different materials have different finishes and everyday uses. The options and prices available for each product appear on its product page.
PLA
A versatile, general-purpose choice for decorative pieces and everyday indoor items. PLA has limited heat resistance and can soften in hot places, such as a car in the sun.
PLA+
A modified PLA. Many PLA+ formulations are designed to be tougher than standard PLA, but the exact properties vary by brand and colour. It is still best kept away from high heat.
Matte PLA
PLA with a soft, low-gloss finish. A good choice when you prefer a subtle look for display pieces or home accessories.
Silk PLA
PLA with a shiny, silky-looking finish. It is chosen mainly for appearance; some multi-colour filaments can look different as the viewing angle changes.
PETG
A practical choice for items exposed to moisture or warmer conditions. PETG generally handles heat and moisture better than standard PLA, but it is not heatproof.
Good to know
Strength and temperature resistance depend on the particular design, colour and how the item is made. A material name alone does not establish that a finished print is suitable for food or drink contact. Colours can also look different on your screen.
